Ian Murray

Ian is a relatively recent convert to the ukelele but has been playing guitar, mandolin, and double bass for about 35 years.  At GFW, he is known for taking his class through an incredible number of songs each term from easy to difficult, and from classic to down right cheesy.

As well as being a GFW ukulele tutor, Ian plays in a wide variety of bands.  Along with Lanark accordionist Allan Smith, he forms the core of Clyde Valley Ceilidh Band in which plays mandolin and is the resident dance caller.  He plays with Biggar Big Band (a fifteen piece jazz big band), and double bass with the old time country outfit, the Darlin' Clementines.  He has played various instruments in bands for local amateur operatic productions including 'Sweet Charity', 'Calamity Jane', 'The King and I', 'Me and my Girl', 'The Man of Lamancha' as well as various Christmas panto shows.

Ian also has in an 8 piece ukulele performance group called the 'Dukes of Uke' - see them at http://en-gb.facebook.com/pages/The-Dukes-of-Uke-Biggar-Ukulele-Ensemble/305673789453737
