We can accommodate 5 levels of fiddle from Absolute Beginners to Advanced. We will list here in more detail when numbers stabilise.

Absolute Beginners – Rua Macmillan
This class is for players at the very earliest stage of playing. In this class Juniors learn how to hold the fiddle and bow, how to name the strings and fingers and build up coordination and musical skills by playing very simple tunes together.

Beginners - Trish Strain
This class is for players who already understand the basics of playing fiddle, and are ready to learn playing complete tunes

Improver - Emma Tomlinson
This class is for players who have been playing for around a year. In this class Juniors learn simple tunes to play together using the first 3 fingers and lots of open strings. They develop their musical skills by playing together and listening to each other. The students will learn some specifically Scottish types of tune like March, Waltz etc.

Junior Fiddle Intermediate - Graham McKenzie
This class is for older more experiemced players who have been playing for a few years and have developed a confident control of their instrument. In this class Juniors will learn tunes by ear readily and to suggest and perform more dynamic and and complex arrangements of the Scottish fiddle repertoire.

Junior Fiddle Advanced - Dan Thorpe
This class is for older very experienced players who have been playing for a few years and have developed a confident control of their instrument. In this class Juniors will learn tunes by ear and technical skills. They will be able to produce ideas for arrangements. They will learn tunes readily and to suggest and perform dynamic and complex arrangements of the Scottish fiddle repertoire.

Parents Fiddle (etc) - Sandie Forbes
For the hour while Juniors are at class we have institued a Parents Class (for a very small fee).
The tutor will lead a group of parents with an assortment of varied instruments and help them to play together in a fun and relaxed setting. This is a good way to spend some quality time, playing music. Mixed ability especially Beginners. (Instruments available to borrow on request)
